I'm a writer, editor and mother, and pour my heart into each of those roles. I've interviewed a lot of cool people, driven a wheat truck in a dryland harvest, and whitewater rafted in the name of journalism. I love good creative energy and I love a good story.
My writing ranges from outdoor recreation and environmental issues to feature stories, profiles and reviews. I am an avid trail runner, backpacker, gardener and paddleboarder and call the Spokane region home.
When I'm not mothering and writing for magazines, I write literary nonfiction. My chapbook of flash essays, "Kindling," was published by Sweet: A Literary Confection in 2017. I love the energy of a flash essay, but I'm trying my hand at a longer book project. (40k words and counting. . .)
Recent writerly things include being selected for the Orion's Environmental Writer's Workshop in Rhinebeck, NY, in June 2025; the 2026 GetLit! Festival; and a 2026 Freeflow Writing Intensive with Amy Irvine. I've started publishing essays again after a few years away career- and family-building, which has been a joy. I have been an editor at three print magazines (Willow Springs, The Swamp, Out There Outdoors).
